In 2016, NEMAC entered into a partnership with the Wildland Fire Leadership Council following our involvement with the National Cohesive Wildland Fire Management Strategy. This partnership recognized a need to provide an integrated platform for large landscape collaborations.
Virtual Center of Excellence
NEMAC is working with the Wildland Fire Leadership Council (WFLC) to develop a digital "Virtual Center of Excellence" to cross geographic and organizational boundaries to showcase best practices, challenges, and successes involved with large landscape collaborations.
This online resource brings diverse teams together to help develop exemplary cross-cutting projects, with the following objectives:
- Highlight success stories from around the nation about best management practices for building resilience and lowering risk exposure from wildland fire.
- Provide a "landscape-level collaboration practitioners guide" to improve the implementation and expansion of projects and activities.
- Provide information and common data points to answer questions quickly.
- Support the main mission of the Landscape Level Collaboration (LLC) team to "increase the number and area of wildfire resilient and healthy landscapes, resilient communities, and efficiency of wildland fire response by expanding cross-landscape, cross ownership collaboration."
