Flooding, drought, sea level rise, heat waves, and more intense and frequent storms have changed the way we think of planning in terms of transportation and infrastructure. Those who manage the nation’s natural resources need the most current climate information. The Template for Assessing Climate Change Impacts and Management Options (TACCIMO) is a collaborative endeavor of the Eastern and Western Threat Centers and Regional Forest Planning units of the U.S. Forest Service.
Data from Multiple Sources
Climate change projections can vary from different sources. Data in TACCIMO includes literature-based impacts and management options, including design criteria, objectives, and desired outcomes. These are used to create U.S. Forest Service land and resource management plans.
NEMAC automated the geospatial report function of the tool, allowing the user to generate a PDF version of the report on the fly for any specified U.S. Forest Service region, National Forest, state, or county in the United States.
Users can define their geographic regions and specific areas of management. Based on this user input, the tool synthesizes relevant data specific to the user.
NEMAC migrated the geospatial explorer to a Flash interface to improve its functionality and appearance.
